Sister City Delaware
Flagge von Ohio
(gehisst in Reichenbach)In the summer of 2010, the Baumholder US Army Garrison Commander, Ltc Paul R. Pfahler, pointed out the possibility of a town partnership between Baumholder and Delaware, Ohio, his hometown. Since years the City of Baumholder has a partnership with the soccer team of the Wesleyan University of Delaware.
At the direction of the city council, a delegation from Baumholder with Mayor Peter Lang and city council members Michael Röhrig, Christian Flohr and Ingrid Schwerdtner flew to Ohio from 12-16 May, 2011, to make the first contact with this future sister city. During a very interesting visit, an official signing of partnership documents took place between Delaware Mayor Gary Miller and Baumholder Mayor Peter Lang.

A delegation from Delaware visits BaumholderA first visit from Delaware officials Mayor Gary Miller, City Manager Tom Homan, city council members Windell Wheeler, Andrew Brush, Carolyn Riggle and Lisa Keller, took place 17-22 October 2012.
During their visit, the Americans were shown the life and town of Baumholder as well as the surrounding countryside. Our American guests were spoiled with the typical local food and drink of the region such as spit roast, stuffed dumplings, schnitzel, homemade sausage, roast game, beer and wine.
The farewell on Monday morning was not an easy one for our guests and their hosts. Another visit, be it in Delaware or in Baumholder, can’t be far off.
