Baumholder – Warcq
The Partnership Committee was founded in 1990 at the suggestion of the then mayor Jürgen Henze with the aim of broadening the partnership between the two municipalities and attracting more citizens from Baumholder to participate in the partnership.
Since then, the Committee has supported the respective mayor in partnership matters and has supported the partnership in numerous actions. For example, it has promoted the exchange of pupils between the primary schools of both communities, which was maintained on the German side above all by Monika Rech, and has significantly enriched it with the Santa action, which was initiated by Klaus Rech, in which the pupils of the primary schools of Warcq are visited and given every year around 6 December by Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht from Baumholder.
Of particular note is the Committee’s commitment to the warcq flood disaster in 1994. The committee started a relief campaign and, thanks to the donations of the citizens of Baumholder, collected 4,000.00 DM in a short time. Mayor Luc Pierquin, the brother of the current mayor Bernard Pierquin, and his “Conseille Municipale” have bought a boat for the money, which has been labeled “Don de Baumholder” and is used especially in floods.
In addition to the chairman Jürgen Henze, the following persons are currently members of the committee:
Annelie and Helmut Adam, Gerd Hahl, Hella and Karl Fritz, Helga Hoffmann, Gaby and Hans Zahler, Ingrid and Gerd Schwerdtner, Nicole Bier and Helmut Schmid.
The Partnership Committee works with the incumbent mayor, currently Mr Günther Jung, on partnership issues and is in turn extremely grateful for support of all kinds, as well as for cooperation and suggestions. Sponsors who sustainably promote the work of the committee are also welcome at all times. And by the way: you can be sure that any donations will benefit the partnership without deductions or administrative costs 100%.
The acting mayor of Warcq has been Marie-Annick Pierquin since 2020.
